Worked a few years for the forest service. Did a little college got a degree in fire science and emergency medical tech. Moved to Alaska in mid 70s. Retired from Alaska and moved to Oregon. Had a lot of fun hunting and fishing in Alaska. I still get out a lot here on the Oregon Idaho border. I spend some winters camping in Baja and get some great fishing in. I can't complain much about anything, I enjoy my hobbies primitive archery, native american studies and artifact reproduction, rock hounding, fishing etc.

Mark, it's Saturday and I'm not teaching today, so I took advantage to send you a birthday wish. I wish I was in Baja catching the tuna and rooster fish. Please, save some for me when I retire! Are you still catching lots of fish? Please send me some pictures if you have time so I can dream of what retirement should be like. Enjoy your birthday on the 19th and catch a big one for me. Your living the life! And, get your daughter's birtdate right or just ask the wife, they always know these things and won't let you forget it or anniversaries, mother's day.....

Joe and I were best friends from about first grade to seventh at Saint Josephs.  We spent many Saturdays exploring the creeks and ravines around Redding looking for old bottles, arrowheads and panning for gold in Sulfur creek and  just having a good time being kids. We had many overnight stays as younsters at our parents houses and got into a lot of mischief.  We crossed the railroad tressel on the catwalk and did the same on the miracle mile bridge. Joe was fearless.  In high school Joe and I were not so close of friends, he moved along to keggers and girls and I was still looking for arrowheads and fishing.  Joe was still a lot of fun and a character that would do anything for a good laugh and do it very athletically, he could make a good joke out of about anything.  Joe and I reconnected many years later and had some good times talking by his place on Topaz Lake.  I was impressed by his woodworking skills and that he had the trout fishing in Topaz Lake figured out. Dang, I wish Joe could come and go fishing with me now at my place here in Mexico. He was fearless and a lot of fun.
